Soloprenuers-Are You Using These 10 Essential Steps In Your Business?

  • Have a clear and specific identity that is distinct and different from your competitors. Having a mission and vision for your business is crucial (focus on what is your role in the world instead of dwelling on what you want others to do)

  • Identify your ideal client/customer and market to them and the organizations they belong to-listen to your clients and customers as they will tell you what they need. (see below)

  • Become an expert in your field by learning all you can about your field/business.
Keep learning-learn what your clients’ problems are and how to solve their problems and you will become known as their problem solver.  (Basically they want more or less of something)

  • Invest in your business by having enough start up money to support the business during at least the first 3 years.  Set up systems that help you organize and automate your business.

  •  Ask for help as you can’t do this alone.  Turn to friends, family, business associates, etc and get them involved in your venture. Outsource the business that you’re not a natural at so you can work on the things you love.  Work with mentors, life coaches or other professionals so you keep moving in the direction you’ve chosen.

  • Take care of yourself by making time for you and do things you love; spend time with your loved ones/friends.  It’s a lot of work to be in business for yourself.  If work is all you do, you may loose your passion for your business quickly and forget why you’re doing this is the first place. Exercise and eating well can help keep you focused and healthy.

  • Form powerful networking alliances with other entrepreneurs/business owners and refer to others and reward for referrals.

  • Give back to others and to your community.  This might sound odd when you’re challenged & struggling to get by but this is a strong spiritual principle.  When you give you always receive so much more back.  Some of the most successful entrepreneurs do this routinely.  (Trick is to do it when your still an emerging entrepreneur)

  • Examine your mindset about success/failure.  Where are you operating from mentally, spiritually and emotionally?  Take a “Can Do” and gratitude approach to all perceived challenges (F.E.A.R.-false evidence appearing real) Research on gratitude shows that it’s good for you mentally and physically to count your blessings (transplant recipients story)

  • Tap into your inner wisdom often and savor your journey. The journey and not the destination is where you will learn the most by being in the NOW.  Daily practices are beneficial to keep you on track and inspired (inspirational music, meditation, journaling, prayer, yoga, etc)

Which steps could you implement now to create greater success? Implement 2 or 3 of these steps and you’ll be on your way to building a solid, successful business. It will take some time and support so do  the steps in stages and ask for help as needed.

To your continued success!
