Gratitude Inventory

Gratitude is at the center of most successful people’s daily practice. In the recent movie, “The Secret”, The Law of Attraction, gratitude was seen as one of the most important aspects of creating the life you want now. If you live with an attitude of gratitude you bring more things into your life on a vibratory (energy) level that you are grateful for. The opposite it also true. If you focus on what you don’t want you attract, more of those negative things are brought into your life.
The field of quantum physics (which includes many renowned authors, doctors, and writers) has shown that we are really energy in motion. The question of how to raise your energy always includes being in gratitude.

What Are You Grateful For?

All of us have things to be grateful for. Most days I make it a point to begin the day and end the day with the things I am grateful for (this is easier on some days than others). The point is to become aware and conscious of all the daily (small and large) wonders.

The following are some ideas to use when taking your gratitude inventory:

  • Write in a gratitude journal everyday about things/people you are grateful for
  • Before you get up, set your intensions for the day by saying what you are grateful for in advance
  • Before going to bed recount your day and find something in the day to be grateful for (some days it may just be the fact that you are alive). Make this fun and see if you can keep adding to your list.
  • Write a letter to someone you are grateful for (living or deceased) telling them why you appreciate them (it is up to you to send it or not - just the very act of being in gratitude will raise your energy)
  • Make a gratitude board of things you love and appreciate
  • Make up index cards with pictures or words of things you are grateful for, and when needed, look at these cards (this is very helpful when you’re not having the best day)
  • Make it your intension to be grateful for the difficult people in your life, in fact, they may be your greatest teachers. Find something you can admire about them and write it down. This may be difficult at first, but it does get easier. Make it a fun game and see how your relationship with them shifts!
  • Be grateful in advance by believing in what you want to come into your life and experiencing the feelings of having that person or thing now. James Ray says that gratitude is belief and expectation in action. In other words, gratitude in advance becomes the cause of the manifestation.

Do this for 21 days so it becomes a habit. Have fun with this and you will begin to have a remarkable life as you raise your energy in gratitude!
